About the Bride: Noreen is a first grade teacher in the Sylvania School District. She is also working on her Master’s Degree in Education. She grew up in Sylvania, OH and graduated from Southview High School in 2001. She attended Ohio University and earned a bachelor’s in early childhood education as well as a reading endorsement. She then went on to teach in Florida for one year. After that year, she realized she missed Toledo and planned to move back for good! She has been here and teaching in Sylvania for 2 years now.
About the Groom: John is the Catering Manager for The Toledo Zoo where he has worked for the past 3 years. John grew up in Waterville, OH and graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 2000. After high school, John went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Northwood University. John also lived in Florida and moved back for the same reason!
Honeymoon: For their honeymoon, the couple has chosen a Caribbean Cruise visiting Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize and Honduras.
Our Story: John and Noreen met through a mutual friend. Their mutual friend introduced them at one of the Zoo’s summer events where Noreen and her friend were guests and John was working. A couple of days later, Noreen’s friend asked if it was okay if she gave John her phone number. (He had emailed her for it.) She said sure and John called soon. When he first called, he called her Nadine instead of Noreen! He was really embarrassed and said he almost hung up! Luckily he didn’t and he asked her out to dinner. Their first date was at Poco Piatti where they had great conversation all night. From then on, they were inseparable.
The Wedding: John & Noreen’s wedding will take place where they met; at The Toledo Zoo. Their ceremony will take place in the Formal Rose Garden and their reception will be held in the Nairobi Pavilion. They plan to have the animals out in the African section of the zoo. They will also take advantage of the carousel! It will run for their guests during the reception.
