My Recent Trips
In October 2011, I spent another week at Beaches Turks and Caicos perfecting my open water diving skills. Most of my dives were at sites on Northwest Point, but on the last day we went to the French Cay and West Caicos area because of rough waters at Northwest Point. The dive staff and boat captains are truly a fun group to spend your days diving with while on holiday.
The property had been closed for a few months during the fall following Hurricane Irene, but there was no evidence of damage by the time I was there at the end of October. They did use the time while they were closed to do some regular maintenance to keep the property looking its best. Of course, I must not forget to mention Beaches Turks and Caicos sits on Grace Bay, one of the best beaches I’ve experienced anywhere in the Caribbean. If you’re interested in going to Turks, I’d be happy to help you plan your visit to one of my favorite slices of paradise.
In July 2011, I spent a week at Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril, Jamaica. Sandy Bay is a smaller, quaint property for the Beaches family. Although the property doesn’t have a fancy pool or waterslides, the staff is one of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered at any of their properties. The property is older, but its atmosphere is wonderful. The beach is extremely calm… so much so… you can float on a raft in the ocean. The property does have exchange privileges with its bigger sister property Beaches Negril and a courtesy shuttle runs between them every 30 minutes throughout the day. So, if you’re looking for more activity or the bigger pool area it is available to you. All the normal Beaches amenities are still available to the guests, and I took advantage of their scuba diving every day. So, if you’re looking for something a little more laid back… this might be the perfect place for you to try.

In January 2011, I filled my need for the sun and beach with a stay at Beaches Turks and Caicos. This is one of my favorite destinations in the Caribbean, and my fourth stay at this particular property. The beach is one of the best I’ve ever visited, but this trip was about feeding my need for adventure. I went to finish my open water SCUBA diving certification at their PADI dive shop. After completing the required training dives, I enjoyed the rest of my week as a certified diver at sites such as Amphitheater and Stairway. I would be happy to share my experiences, and help you plan your own exciting trip to Turks.
