May 2010, my most recent trip to Fiji was with Southern World. I returned to Fiji to expand my knowledge and continue with the Matai Specialist program. I visited the infamous Wakaya Club, a private island resort. The snorkeling here was some of the best I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world. I also experienced a number of properties to the north on Vanua Levu including Namale, Jean-Michel Cousteau, and Koro Sun. While at Namale, we got to experience a Kava Bowl ceremony, a local tradition within Fiji. I spent some time in the Mamanucas islands to the west of Viti Levu, the main island. Here I visited Tokoriki Island Resort, Vomo Island Resort, and LikuLiku Resort. On Viti Levu, I stayed in both Denarau Island at the Sofitel and the Intercontinental at Natadola. Fiji has so many different types of accommodations and experiences there is something to fit everyone’s wants and needs. With the favorable exchange rate, many times I can arrange packages to Fiji for the same or less than Hawaii. If Fiji is a dream trip for you, I’d be happy to try to help you make that dream come true.
